Horst Nöbl, the weather prophet from Saalfelden, predicts the following for winter 2024-2025
November: beautiful autumn month with lots of sunshine above the fog, end of the month - cold air advance
December: persistently cold and heavy snowfall, white Christmas without significant Christmas thaw
January: persistently cold with further snowfall
February: still cold at the beginning, then fair weather with warming, almost spring-like at the end of the month, high snow cover nevertheless remains
March: above-average temperatures, end of snow cover in the lowlands around March 20
April: beautiful, warm spring month, the snow on the ski slopes nevertheless lasts until Easter. Slight risk of frost at the end of the month!

Morning mood 1

The morning view of our operations manager Georg Dürlinger! 29.06.2024. Georg is actually the shirt-sleeved operations manager of the Schmittenhöhebahn, who obviously has an eye for the beauty of HIS workplace. In any case, Georg gets up early for the morning hike up to the Schmittenhöhe, for a mountaineering breakfast at the Berghotel Schmittenhöhe at 2,000m.

Emperor

The emperor gazes from the Kaiserblick to the Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe. The Kaiserblick has been open since July 27 and offers a 270-degree view far across the Alps. Starting with the Watzmann in the Berchtesgaden Alps, the Steinernes Meer, the Hochkönig to the Dachstein with the Niedere Tauern, from the Ankogel to the Goldberg to the Glockner group - with the Grossglockner and the Kitzsteinhorn in front of you - via the Venediger group to the Tux Alps, from the Wilder Kaiser via the Leoganger Steinberge back to the Steinernes Meer. This 360-degree panorama can be found around the Berghotel Schmittenhöhe.

Samer

The Felbertauern Samer visiting the Schmittenhöhe on 14 July 2024 The mule trade was vital for the entire Zell am See region, for the Pinzgau and especially for the Upper Pinzgau between the 12th & 18th centuries. Even the Counts of Tyrol and later the Archbishopric of Salzburg earned money from the trade in salt, spices, leather, hides, silver and copper, wine, hops and spices in a lively exchange across the Tauern to the south and across the Schmittenhöhe to the north.
